Ett anspråkslöst mästerverk
Fïx8:Sëd8 är för mig personligen mest känd som gästinhoppare på Objects album “Mechanisms of Faith” (2012) och för den fantastiska och massiva “Monolith [Infinite FPR extend]” från samlingsalbumet “Electro Arc Compilation vol. 2” (2007). Akten är ett soloprojekt från den tysklandsbaserade Martin Januszewski, även känd som Martin Sane. Den 19 maj släpptes det första skivbolagsunderstödda studioalbumet “Foren6” på Dependent Records.
“Foren6” är en anspråkslös produktion som inte syftar till att passa in på dansgolvet eller bland den serietillverkade popmusiken på radion. Ungefär som den rebelliska punkscenen under 70-talet där de varken ville göra frisyr-poprock eller neddrogad hippe-rock. Som den onervösa DIY-attityden som präglade den elektroniska musikscenen i början av 80-talet då samhällets ideologiska bojor började släppa sitt grepp om denna kulturform. Som trance-producenterna som bröt ny och spännande mark under 90-talet med sin kombination av kall och rå techno, bubblande acid och euforiska synthslingor. På samma sätt kombinerar Martin Sane allt detta i en dystopisk tillbakablick. Som framtidsvisionen av Los Angeles i 80-talsfilmen Blade Runner. En vision som fortfarande – två år innan filmen utspelar sig – fascinerar publiken trots att den inte har mycket med dagens verklighet att göra.
Det Martin Sane gör är motsvarande resa åt andra hållet. En tillbakablick på all den musikaliska mark som brutits sedan Vancouver 1982. Genom de euforiska trance-melodierna, de industriella syra-attackerna, de råa techno-beatsen och den punkiga skit-i-alla-andra-attityden har så det bästa industrialbumet på många år lite oväntat landat från just fïx8:sëd8, mitt i den pågående renässansen för denna musikstil. Albumet har inga svaga punkter och efter mer än tjugo genomlyssningar fortfarande inte repetitivt eller uttjatat. Låtmaterialet är helt enkelt så starkt och något annat än högsta betyg för “Foren6” är inte aktuellt.

A humble masterpiece
For me Fïx8:Sëd8 is mostly known for the appearance on Object‘s 2012 album “Mechanisms of Faith” as well as the fantastic and massive “Monolith [Infinite FPR extend]” from the “Electro Arc Compilation vol. 2” from 2007. The acts sole member is the german based Martin Januszewski, aka Martin Sane. On the 19th of May the first studio album “Foren6” was released on Dependent Records.
“Foren6” is a humble production whose purpose is not for the dance floor or among the pop charts on the radio. Somewhat like the rebellious punk scene in the 70’s where they neither wanted to make hair-rock or nor drugged hippie-rock. Like the un-tense DIY-attitude to electronic music in the early 80’s, when the ideological chains started to lose its grip around this form of art. Like the trance producers that paved new and exciting ways during the 90’s with their blend of harsh techno, acid and euphoric synths. In the same way Martin Sane combines all this in a dystopic flashback. Very much like the futuristic vision of Los Angeles in the classic 80’s movie “Blade Runner”. A vision that still fascinates the audience despite it only being played out in two years from now, and is not that relevant anymore.
What Martin Sane does is the same journey but in the opposite direction. A recap on the musical boundaries pushed since Vancouver 1982. Through the euphoric trance melodies, the industrial acid attacks, the harsh techno beats and the punky don’t-care-what-anyone-else-thinks-attitude the best industrial album in many years have just arrived. In the middle of this ongoing reneassaince of this kind of music Fïx8:Sëd8 has produced an album without any flaws that never gets repetetive or boring. The material for this album is just that great that any other than the highest grade is not on the map.
