Ett smakprov på vad som komma skall

Aggrotech-legenderna Hocico släpper en försmak inför det kommande albumet i form av EP:n “In the Name of Violence”, som innehåller b-sidan “Silent Crow” och fyra remixer av titelspåret. Tempot på båda spåren är väldigt högt vilket känns igen från det förra studioalbumet “El Último Minuto” men där tycker jag att likheterna slutar. “In the Name of Violence” har mycket mer gemensamt med äldre Hocico runt “Wrack and Ruin” (2004). 

Sparsmakade melodier blandas med betonghårda beats och det är ingen tvekan att det är aggrotech det handlar om. Produktionen är kristallklart klinisk och precis lagom mycket effekter har lagts på sången, texterna går faktiskt att utröna vilket inte alltid varit självklart när det gäller Hocico. Syftet med EP:n är som sagt att väcka intresse för nästa fullängdare vilket jag tycker den verkligen gör.

Av de fyra remixerna är det två som står ut extra mycket eftersom de lägger sig i varsin ände av det hårdare spekrat. Faderhead har tolkat låten till dansant EBM och Xotox efter powernoise. Jag tycker att båda är mycket värda att lyssna på.

Colts remixen är den som tilltalar mig minst, bara drum n’ bass-rytmer och originalmelodin finns kvar på ett tråkigt sexminutersspår. Undvik!

A taste of what’s to come

Aggrotech-legends Hocico releases a foretaste of the forthcoming album in the form of the EP “In The Name of Violence”, which contains the b-side “Silent Crow” and four remixes of the title track. The tempo of both tracks is very high, which reminds alot of the last studio album “El Ultimo Minuto” but the similarities ends pretty much right there. “In the Name of Violence” has much more in common with older Hocico around “Wrack and Ruin” (2004).

Sparse melodies mixed with hard beats and there is no doubt that aggrotech is what’s it all about. The production is crystal clear, clinical and there are just enough effects put on the song, the lyrics actually quite clear which has not always been the case when it comes to Hocico. The purpose of the EP is as I said to arouse interest for the next album which I think it really does.

Of the four remixes, there are two that stand out a bit extra because they put themselves at opposite ends of the harder spectrum. Faderhead have interpreted the song to danceable EBM and Xotox makes it into power noise. I think both are very worth listening to.

Colt’s remix is ​​the one that appeals to me the least, only drum n ‘bass rhythms and original melody remains in a boring sim-minute track. Avoid!
