Fortsätter på den spännande resan

Efter albumdebuten med “Digital Format” under 2012 och förra årets uppföljare “Europa Machine” så återvänder den Danska duon Holm/Mirland nu med sin nya skapelse “In Control”.

De olika delmomenten, där de suggestiva rytmerna, effekterna och oljuden bygger grunden till de sammetslena melodierna och effekterna ger oss en ljudbild som i ena momentet sakta byggs upp för att i nästa lika snabbt brytas ner och bli iskallt minimal.

Överraskningsmomenten är relativt många på “In Control” om man ger den lite tid men den mår bäst av att avnjutas i sin helhet. Uppstyckat i delar fungerar det nämligen inte alls lika bra då alla spår tillför något till helheten.

Albumet ger oss både det något mer mystiskt atmosfäriska liksom den mer grovhuggna, avskalade och dansanta ifrån duons skaparlusta där man anar influenser från såväl brittisk industrial, acid, EBM och modern electro. De mer fartfyllda och dansanta spåren representeras bäst av titelspåret “In Control”, den kraftfulla “Awake” och den mer skruvade “Pain and Pleasure” medan det mystiska ges i den inledande “Numb” och den lite långsammare “The Mind’s Eye”.

“In Control” fortsätter den spännande resan in i Holm/Mirlands ljudlandskap med äran i behåll och fans av exempelvis The Klinik och Portion Control borde definitivt fördjupa sig närmare i den här duons diskografi.

The exciting journey continues

Following the album debut “Digital Format” in 2012 and last year’s sequel “Europe Machine” the Danish duo Holm/Mirland now returns with their new creation, “In Control”.

The various stages, where the evocative rhythms, effects and noises builds the foundation for the velvety melodies and effects gives us a sound image in one momentum slowly built up to the next as quickly decompose and become coolly minimal.

Surprise moments are relatively numerous on “In Control” if you give it a little time but it works best if enjoyed in its entirety. Broken-up in parts it doesn’t work as good as each of the tracks add something to the whole.

The album gives us both the more mysterious and atmospheric as well as the more rough-hewn, stripped and danceable sides of this duo’s creative urge which senses influences from British industrial, acid, EBM and modern electro. The more fast paced and danceable grooves is best represented by the title track “In Control”, the powerful “Awakening” and the more quirky “Pain and Pleasure” while the mysterious and atmospheric side is represented in the introductory “Numb” and the slower “The Mind’s Eye”.

“In Control” continues the exciting journey into the Holm/Mirland-soundscape with honor intact, and fans och for example The Klinik and Portion Control should definitely immerse themselves further in this duo’s discography.
