Spretig men ytterst dansant electro
Ur askorna av nittiotalsbanden Aghast View och Biopsy så återvände den brasilianska duon med Fabricio Viscardi och Guilherme Pires med “Powerswitch” under det nya bandnamnet Aesthetische för drygt två år sedan (2012). Nu är de tillbaka med den nya fullängdaren “HybridCore”.
Precis som på tidigare material så innehåller “HybridCore” en väldigt bred mix av elektroniska stilar och influenser. Techno- och trance-elementen finns ständigt närvarande och duons anslag i sin helhet är ytterst dansant och snyggt.
“HybridCore” spretar dock en del och Aesthetische hinner med att avhandla både Front Line Assembly-doftande och vocoderkryddade nummer som “Byprodukt”, “Synaptics” och “Amplitude Zero” liksom mer fullsmetade och kraftfulla diton som “Twisted Volt” och “Statement” där man stundtals låter lite som en melodiösare version av Combichrist.
Sångerskorna Mari Kattman (från Day Twelve) och Diana S. bidrar med sång på tre utav spåren vilket ger en ljudbild som landar “farligt” nära kommersiell elektronisk dansmusik.
Det står snabbt klart att det här albumet bör avnjutas i mindre portioner på ett mörkt dansgolv. Känslan är att Aesthetische ibland försöker göra lite för mycket med sitt sound. Det är lite synd, då delar av det här albumet både är medryckande och snyggt producerat.

Sprawling but extremely danceable electro
Out of the ashes of the ninetees-acts Aghast View and Biopsy, the brazilian duo with Fabricio Viscardi and Guilherme Pires returned with “Powerswitch” a little more than two years ago under the new bandname Aesthetische. Now they return with the new full length album “HybridCore”.
Just as on their earlier outputs “HybridCore” contains a wide mix of electronic styles and influences. The techno- and trance-elements are constantly present and the duos fingering in full are extremely dancable and tidy.
“HybridCore” do however sprawl a bit and Aesthetische brings both Front Line Assembly-resembling and vocoderheavy numbers like “Byprodukt”, “Synaptics” and “Amplitude Zero” aswell as more full angled and powerful ditos like “Twisted Volt” and “Statement” which sometimes sounds a bit like a more melodic version of Combichrist.
Female singers Mari Kattman (from Day Twelve) and Diana S. contributes on three of the tracks that brings the sound “hazardly” close to commercial electronic dance.
It’s quickly realized that this album should be enjoyed in smaller dozes on a dark dance floor. I feel that Aesthetische sometimes tries too hard with their sound. It’s a pity because parts of this album is both catchy and nicely produced.
