Ännu ett starkt singelsläpp från trion.

Nya albumet “Trialogue” från svensk-norska trion Code 64 slog ner som en bomb förra veckan och jag tilldelade den omgående, utan det minsta tvivel, ElektroSkull – Synthportalens första tiopoängare! Nu kryddar bandet albumsläppet med att släppa ytterligare en digital singel; Poppiga 80- och 90-tals inspirerade “Masquerade” har landat tillsammans med melodiösa bitpop och technoinfluerade b-sidan “Rebirth”.

Titelspåret är verkligen precis vad bandet själva anser, det bästa utav två decenniers synthpop. Vemodig lyrik om ett brustet hjärta vävs in av smattrande trummor, skruvade synthar och en pumpande analog basgång. Bryggan och refrängen sätter sig direkt och jag har kommit på mig själv nynnandes på den flera gånger under sista tiden.

Med på singelsläppet finns ett par intressanta tolkningar av både b-sidan och titelspåret. KC Killjoy står för den ena remixen av “Masquerade” som via hans tolkning ges en lite tyngre, något avskalad och dansantare tolkning. Bandet själva bidrar också med “The Purist & The Eurotrash Remix”, vars pumpande basgång över två oktaver direkt får mig att tänka på svenska Duponts senaste album, av någon anledning dold i mitt undermedvetna.

“Stasis”, aptitretaren som bandet släppte i våras inför nya albumet är ett av årets absolut starkaste singelsläpp, men “Masquerade” ligger hack i häl. Låten har högre hitpotential än “Stasis” och kommer säkerligen gå hem hos en bredare publik. Gillar man elektronisk pop av det bättre märket från 80- och 90-talet så kommer man älska “Masquerade”.
